Academic failure

Inspired by the recent annual report of my faculty, and reflecting on our research assessment last year, I’ve written a blog post for the LSE Impact Blog. I suggest we should pay more attention to the everyday failures and disappointments associated with academic work, rather than constantly promoting excellence, individually and collectively. Research culture could benefit from a more realistic appraisal of failure. Teaser: first paragraph of the blog contains one of my own ‘failures’.
