NWO Report on Dutch national digital infrastructure published
The report Excellent Research Requires Excellent Infrastructure has now been published, and is available in English and Dutch on the website of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The report advises the new Dutch government to make an extra €27 million per year available for the Netherlands’ national digital infrastructure. According to the NWO Committee that produced the report (which I chaired), this is essential if the country is to remain among the best in the world in this area and if it is to meet Dutch researchers’ growing need for digital infrastructures.
The report focuses on the resources required to ensure that the growing demands of data- and compute-intensive research can be met, that the digital infrastructure of the Netherlands is at an internationally competitive level and therefore contributes to the current high level of scientific research in the Netherlands, and that Dutch-based researchers continue to have the opportunity to participate in European and global collaborative projects.
The report provides recommendations, and includes an overview of the Dutch digital research infrastructure.
