Sending postcards
While some colleagues were doing fieldwork for the Making Clinical Sense project, we wrote postcards to each other. They documented observations, ideas, dilemmas, puzzles, and everyday happenings. Of course they are short, capturing moments of observation or questions or a short greeting. But as we have learned in our project, from studying how doctors learn physical examination skills, there is a world of information in a thumbnail.
We put together some of our reflections on this way of keeping contact in a short contribution to the Journal of the American Anthropological Association. You can read the full article here. It was written together with Anna Harris, Andrea Wojcik, Harro van Lente and John Nott, all colleagues in the Maastricht Science and Technology Studies research group.
